Rule Name

The database disk is full. Deleting log files is not recommended and could stop the database from starting.

Explanation

This Warning event indicates that the disk that contains the database files is full. The disk contains many edb.log files. Deleting or moving edb.log files is not recommended.

User Action

To resolve this problem, delete unnecessary files on the disk on which the database resides to create more space. Moving individual edb.log files is not recommended. However, you may want to move the database to a disk that has greater capacity.

Important

If you delete log files to recover disk space, the database may not start if the database files are inconsistent. Numbered log files cannot be deleted. However, numbered log files can be moved if the database files are consistent.

For More Information

If you are not already doing so, consider running the Exchange tools, which have been created to help you analyze and troubleshoot your Exchange environment. These tools can help make sure that your configuration aligns with Microsoft best practices. They can also help you identify and resolve performance issues and improve mail flow. To run these tools, go to the Toolbox node of the Exchange Management Console. To learn more about these tools, see Managing Tools in the Toolbox.
