Use this form to change the test type for a test. You cannot change the test type after you assign the test to a test group. When you change the test type of a quantitative test, you can also change the unit of measure that is used for testing.

Examples

When a quantitative test was first defined, it had a test type of integer. The unit of measure for the test had a decimal precision of zero. The quality manager now wants to define quality specifications and report test results with more decimal precision. Therefore, the manager changes the test type to fraction, and also changes the unit of measure.

When a qualitative test was first defined, it had a test type of option. The associated variable and enumerated outcomes were also defined. The quality manager now wants the test to be quantitative. Therefore, the manager wants to change the test type to fraction, and to assign a unit of measure. However, because the test is already being used in a test group, the test type cannot be changed. Therefore, the quality manager creates a new test that has a test type of fraction, and replaces the old test. By using the validity dates for tests that are assigned to a test group, the manager phases out the old test and phases in the new test.
