Migrate Data and Update Commerce Server Schema

When migrating a site developed on an earlier version of Microsoft Commerce Server to Commerce Server 2009 R2, you must upgrade your site resources and the Administration database. The Commerce Server Upgrade Wizard migrates the existing global and site resources (including catalogs, orders, campaigns, marketing, and profiles data), and site data for Commerce Server sites you restored to Commerce Server 2009 R2.

Note

The Commerce Server Upgrade Wizard will only display information on global and site resources when an upgrade is necessary. Not all earlier versions of Commerce Server require migration for existing global and site resources.

When the upgrade process is complete, the Upgrade Wizard provides a list of resources that were not upgraded from your prerelease version. You must migrate these resources manually for them to function correctly.

To upgrade Commerce Server schema

  1. If the Upgrade Wizard was not automatically launched at the end of the configuration, launch the Upgrade Wizard (click Start > All Programs > Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 R2 > Tools > Upgrade Wizard).

  2. On the Welcome to the Upgrade Wizard page, click Next.

  3. On the Select Options page, specify the path for the Commerce Server Upgrade Wizard log file, and click Next.
