Work item queues (form) [AX 2012]

Click Organization administration > Setup > Workflow > Work item queues.

Use this form to create and manage work item queues. A work item queue is a collection of documents that require processing. Every work item queue must have users who are assigned to it. These users are responsible for monitoring the queue and processing the documents that are in it.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Name the work item queue, select the type of document that is sent to the queue for processing, and set the status of the queue.

Users

Assign users to the queue, or unassign users from the queue.

Assignment rule

Specify the conditions under which the queue is used.

Work item queue assignment rules

Open the Work item queue assignment rules form, where you can specify the conditions under which a work item queue is used.

Users

Add

Assign a user to the work item queue.

Users must be assigned to every queue. These users are responsible for monitoring the queue and processing the documents that are in it. Before you assign a user to the queue, verify that the user has permission to process the documents that are in the queue. For example, if the queue contains purchase requisitions, a user who is assigned to the queue must have permission to view and modify purchase requisitions.

Remove

Unassign the selected user from the work item queue.

Save

Save your changes.

Open the Work item queue assignment rules form, where you can specify the conditions under which a work item queue is used.

Document

The type of document that is used to filter the list of work item queues.

General

Name

The name of the work item queue.

Description

The description of the work item queue.

Document

The type of document that is sent to the work item queue for processing.

Status

Select the status of the work item queue.

  • Active – Documents can be sent to the queue for processing.

  • On hold – Documents cannot be sent to the queue for processing. Use this status when you want to process all the documents that are in the queue before you set the status of the queue to Inactive.

  • Inactive – Documents cannot be sent to the queue.

Users

User

The user name of the Microsoft Dynamics AX user who is assigned to the work item queue.

Name

The name of the Microsoft Dynamics AX user who is assigned to the work item queue.

Administrator

A selected check box indicates that the user is an administrator of the work item queue.

Every queue must have at least one administrator. Queue administrators can change the status of the queue, assign users to or unassign users from the queue, and specify the conditions under which the queue is used.

The name of the assignment rule.

Description

The description of the assignment rule.
