This topic provides a brief introduction to the tools that you use to deploy a Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 R2 solution in a Microsoft SharePoint 2010 environment or an ASP.NET environment.

Commerce Server Software Deployment Tools

You use the following tools to install Commerce Server 2009 R2 software components and deployment script samples and to perform Commerce Server 2009 R2 initial configuration:

  • Microsoft Commerce Server Installation Wizard

  • Microsoft Commerce Server Configuration Wizard

  • Commerce Server 2009 R2 command line interface, which supports silent installation and configuration

Commerce Server 2009 R2 Site Packager

Use Commerce Server Site Packager to package and unpack Commerce Server 2009 R2 sites and their resources on a server. Site Packager is used in both SharePoint 2010 and ASP.NET commerce deployments. See Commerce Server 2009 R2 Site Packager for more information.

Sample Deployment Scripts and Packages

Commerce Server 2009 R2 provides sample scripts and commerce solution packages in .zip archives to facilitate the deployment and configuration of SharePoint 2010 or ASP.NET commerce solutions.

The deployment strategy for commerce solutions relies on the use of these sample scripts and packages which were developed to deploy the SharePoint 2010 Solution Storefront in a two-tier or three-tier configuration.

The sample script provides you with a starting point to create your own set of deployment scripts to deploy your custom e-commerce solution. The use of samples, along with documentation guidance, simplifies the deployment process by providing ready-to-use or ready-to-modify configurations which could otherwise be complex to achieve through documentation only.

Sample deployment scripts are installed during setup by selecting the option to install Developer Kits > Samples. After installation and extraction from the .zip archives, samples are accessible from the Start menu, under Programs > Commerce Server 2009 R2 > Extensibility Kits > Samples.
