Commerce Server Migration Tasks
The tasks involved in migrating sites from an earlier version of Microsoft Commerce Server to Commerce Server 2009 R2 depend on the version of Commerce Server you are migrating from. Every migration scenario requires that you back up your site code and data in preparation for migration, and that you migrate your Commerce Server data once you have restored your site code and data on the Commerce Server 2009 R2 platform.
Depending on the version of Commerce Server you are migrating from, you must also rework your site code to make calls against the Commerce Server Foundation API. If your site code already uses the Foundation API, you must update the Foundation configuration files and the site code to use the new Commerce Server 2009 R2 assemblies.
The following table summarizes the migration tasks for each version of Commerce Server.
