Developing with the Desktop Business Tools Extensibility Kit
The Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 R2 Desktop Business Tools extensibility kit contains the Microsoft Visual Studio solution from which you can create custom versions of the Commerce Server 2009 R2 Desktop Business Tools. This extensibility kit provides you with the ability to extend the out-of-the-box desktop client applications to meet specific needs that are not covered by the base applications.
Note
Because there is no migration path for Business Management Applications that were created under Commerce Server 2002 Feature Pack 1, any functionality that uses that platform will have to be re-created for use with Commerce Server 2009 R2.
Note
You cannot use Visual Studio 2010 with Desktop Business Tools Extensibility Kit. You must use Visual Studio 2008 and to work with the Desktop Business Tools source code.

To localize the user interface of a Commerce Server 2009 R2 Desktop Business Tools, you must create your own language pack.
