Scheduler job (form) [AX 2012]

Updated: February 17, 2014

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack

Click Retail > Setup > Retail scheduler > Scheduler jobs.

Use the Scheduler job form to create, manage, and delete Retail Scheduler jobs. Use jobs to distribute data modifications in tables to specific store locations. You must create subjobs to manage data distribution for specific tables and fields in a table.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Button

Description

Create staging table

Create a staging table for a target table in a P-job. P-jobs upload data from a channel to the Microsoft Dynamics AX database.

In Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, the Application Object Server (AOS) uses staging tables before it writes transactions to the database.

In AX 2012 R2 and AX 2012 Feature Pack, Synch Service uses staging tables before it writes transactions to Microsoft Dynamics AX. You must create a staging table every time that you change a P-job.

Copy scheduler job

Copy the settings of the selected scheduler job to a new job. You can use this functionality to help create jobs more quickly.

Scheduler log

This control is available only in AX 2012 R2 and AX 2012 Feature Pack.

Open the Scheduler log form, where you can view information about the actions that were performed by scheduler jobs.

Field

Description

Job name

The unique identifier for the scheduler job.

Description

The description of the scheduler job.

Retail channel schema

Select the type of channel that the scheduler job is for. The following channel types are available:

  • AX 2009 POS – A point of sale (POS) channel in AX 2009.

  • AX 2012 Feature Pack POS – A POS channel in AX 2012 Feature Pack.

  • AX 2012 R2 Online Channel – An online channel in AX 2012 R2.

  • AX 2012 R2 POS – A POS channel in AX 2012 R2.

  • AX 2012 R3 – An online or POS channel in AX 2012 R3.

Is upload

This control is available only in AX 2012 R3.

Select this option if the job uploads data from channels into the Microsoft Dynamics AX database.

Job execution class

This control is available only in AX 2012 R2 and AX 2012 Feature Pack.

The class that is used to process the scheduler job. After you initialize the base configuration data for the Retail module, the default class for the job type is selected.

Data processing class

This control is available only in AX 2012 R2 and AX 2012 Feature Pack.

The class that is used to perform data translation when the scheduler job is processed.

ImportantImportant

Data translation is required only in an environment that requires multi-version POS support. If all your POS systems run the current version of Microsoft Dynamics AX, you can leave this field blank.

Field

Description

Subjob number

The unique identifier of the scheduler subjob.

Description

The description of the scheduler subjob.

Enabled

This control is available only in AX 2012 R2 and AX 2012 Feature Pack.

Select this check box to indicate that the scheduler subjob is run when the batch job that contains it is run. Clear this check box if you do not want the subjob to run together with the batch job.

Subjob replication method

This control is available only in AX 2012 R2 and AX 2012 Feature Pack.

The replication method for the scheduler subjob:

  • Normal – Replicate all records from the source table to the destination table for the selected distribution location.

  • By actions – Replicate only the records that have been modified since the last replication.

Table name

The name of the table in the Microsoft Dynamics AX database that data is sent to or received from.

Reference only

This control is available only in AX 2012 R3.

This field is available only in environments that use multi-version POS support.

When this check box is selected, it indicates that the table is used only for reference when determining the data changes that must be distributed through Commerce Data Exchange.

For example, assume that the data to be distributed is contained in Table A. To calculate the changes in Table A, both Table A and Table B must be analyzed. In this case, you would create subjob A, to distribute data from Table A. You would also create subjob B and mark the reference-only check box. Changes are tracked for Table B, but no data is distributed from Table B.

This FastTab is available only in AX 2012 R2 and AX 2012 Feature Pack.
