Microsoft Dynamics 365 (online) is part of the Microsoft Office 365 collaboration and productivity tools. The Microsoft Office 365 portal provides a single sign-on experience for Office 365 customers where they can sign in once and access any Office 365 application, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 (online). In addition, system user accounts in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (online) can be provisioned in the Microsoft Online Services admin portal.

Using federation, applications can connect to Microsoft Dynamics 365 (online) using the same system user identities and credentials available in an Active Directory based network. More information: TechNet: Single sign-on roadmap.
