Network requirements

Microsoft Dynamics CRM is designed to work best over networks that have the following elements:

  • Bandwidth greater than 50 KBps (400 kbps)

  • Latency under 150 ms

Notice that these values are recommendations and do not guarantee satisfactory performance.

The following two sections list the supported operating systems and versions for the Microsoft Dynamics CRM web application when you run Internet Explorer.

The following operating systems are supported for the Microsoft Dynamics CRM web application:

  • Windows 10 with Internet Explorer 11

  • Windows 8 (Internet Explorer 10 desktop mode only)

  • Windows 7 (all versions)

  • Windows Vista (all versions)

  • Windows XP Professional SP3

  • Windows XP Tablet SP3

  • Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

System_CAPS_importantImportant
  • Windows 10 compatibility requires Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 18 or later update rollup.

  • Microsoft Edge is not supported with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011.

  • Windows 8 compatibility requires Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 10 or later update rollup. The Microsoft Dynamics CRM web application works with Internet Explorer 10 desktop mode only. For known issues with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 10 running on Windows 8, see Support with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and Windows 8.

  • Running the Microsoft Dynamics CRM web application on Windows 8 and Internet Explorer configurations not listed here, such as on Windows RT, is currently not supported.

The Microsoft Dynamics CRM web application can run in any of the following Internet Explorer versions:

  • Internet Explorer 11

  • Internet Explorer 10 (desktop mode only)

  • Internet Explorer 9

  • Internet Explorer 8

  • Internet Explorer 7 (on-premises versions only)

System_CAPS_importantImportant
  • Internet Explorer 11 compatibility requires Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 18 or later update rollup.

  • Internet Explorer 10 with Microsoft Dynamics CRM works in desktop mode only. For more information about Internet Explorer 10 browser experience modes, see Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8. Internet Explorer 10 does not work fully with update rollups prior to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 12. For known issues with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 10 running on Internet Explorer 10, see Support with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and Internet Explorer 10.

  • Internet Explorer 7 is not supported with Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. Although Internet Explorer 7 is supported when you run on-premises versions of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, we do not recommend it because later versions of Internet Explorer provide significant performance improvements.

The Microsoft Dynamics CRM web application can run in any of the following web browsers running on the specified operating systems.

  • Mozilla Firefox (latest publicly released version) running on Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP

  • Google Chrome (latest publicly released version) running on Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP

At this writing, Microsoft has tested Microsoft Dynamics CRM on FireFox 16, Chrome 21 and Chrome 22, and Safari 6. Before Microsoft can resolve issues discovered when you run Microsoft Dynamics CRM with a non-Internet Explorer web browser, you may have to upgrade the web browser if it is earlier than the latest publicly released version.

For Apple iPad support see Guided process forms for Sales on iPad.

Any browser or browser and operating system combination not listed in this and the previous topic will run in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mobile Express mode.

There are several options available to access Microsoft Dynamics CRM data from different devices such as mobile phones.

In most cases, web browsers not listed earlier in this topic use Mobile Express for Microsoft Dynamics CRM mode, which offers reduced access to Microsoft Dynamics CRM typically used for mobile devices.

Mobile Express comes installed with Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2011 and is available with Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. Mobile Express offers great device flexibility because it runs on any web browser that supports common standards, which are HTML 4.0 and JavaScript.

Users who want a lightweight experience when accessing CRM data, even with a supported web browser, can run Mobile Express mode by appending “/m” to the URL, for example, https://company.crm.dynamics.com/m or https://crmweb/organization/m.

For more information about Mobile Express, see Getting Started with CRM mobility.

The Product Updates in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM December 2012 Service Update includes a feature to let you run the guided process forms for Sales in the Apple Safari web browser on the Apple iPad.

To be able to run the guided process forms for Sales on an iPad, existing Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online instances must have the new forms enabled. To do this, click Enable the new forms in the Product Updates area of Settings in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. New Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online instances will already have the forms enabled. For more information about the guided process forms for Sales, see Introduction to the new lead and opportunity forms.

The following iPad models are supported.

  • iPad 2

  • iPad with Retina display

System_CAPS_importantImportant
  • iPads with iOS versions earlier than 6.0 are not supported using the guided process forms for Sales for iPad. Users who have those devices can use Mobile Express.

  • Only the iPad models listed earlier are supported for the guided process forms for Sales. Although the full Microsoft Dynamics CRM Web application will run when you use an iPad (first and third generation) or iPad mini tablet, only Mobile Express is supported on those devices.

  • Currently, Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 on-premises versions do not include iPad support.
