DPM provides backup and recovery for SQL Server. You can back up:

  • SQL Server databases.

  • In addition to backing up databases, to fully protect your SQL Server deployment you can configure protection for volumes, system state or full bare metal recovery backup of the SQL Server.

You set up SQL Server protection as follows:

SQL Server prerequisites—Read these before you begin deployment. This includes information about protecting AlwaysOn databases.

Configure SQL Server protection—Set up protection groups for SQL Server, and configure monitoring.

Recover SQL Server data in DPM—Learn about recovering DPM data.
