General maintenance includes tasks such as disk and file maintenance, updating operating systems and applications, and protecting data by using antivirus software and performing regular backups. Some special considerations apply when you are performing server maintenance on SQL Servers that are protected by System Center 2012 – Data Protection Manager (DPM).
