When you sign up for Azure Active Directory (AD), you are issued a domain name that you can use with the service; for example, contoso.onmicrosoft.com. But you can also add your own custom domain names to Azure AD and thus personalize your email addresses and instant messaging addresses, or host websites.
If your organization already has a custom domain name that was purchased at an online domain name registrar, as an administrator, you can add this domain to your Azure AD tenant to use with all of the Microsoft online services that you have subscribed to.
In this section, you will learn about internet domain management in Azure AD, including how to:
Locate your domain services
Add your custom domain to Azure AD
Verify your custom domain in Azure AD
Work with domain names and DNS records in Azure AD
Troubleshoot issues after changing your domain name in Azure AD
If you don’t already have your own domain name, you can easily purchase one online at a domain name registrar (for example, Go Daddy, Melbourne IT, Network Solutions, Hover, eNom Central, 1&1 Internet, Register.com), domain reseller, or even your current Internet provider.
