Step 9: Verify the Installation

Verifying the FIM1 installation for the Forefront Identity Manager 2010 test lab consists of the following:

  • Verify the Build Numbers of the FIM Service and the FIM Synchronization Service

  • Verify the Synchronization Service

  • Verify the FIM Service and Portal

Verify the Build Numbers of the FIM Service and the FIM Synchronization Service

To verify the build numbers of the FIM Service and the FIM Synchronization Service

  1. Log on to FIM1 as CORP\Administrator.

  2. Navigate to the following directory: c:\Program Files\Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager\2010\Service.

  3. Locate the Microsoft ResourceManagement.Service.exe file, right-click and select Properties. This will bring up the Properties dialog box.

  4. At the top, click the Details tab.

  5. Look for Product Version and note the value. It should be 4.1.2273. Click Cancel.

  6. Navigate to the following directory: c:\Program Files\Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager\2010\Synchronization Service\Bin .

  7. Locate the miiserver.exe file, right-click and select Properties. This will bring up the Properties dialog box.

  8. At the top, click the Details tab.

  9. Look for Product Version and note the value. It should be 4.1.2273. Click Cancel.

Verify the Synchronization Service

Now we will verify that the Synchronization Service comes up.

To verify the Synchronization Service

  1. Click Start, select All Programs, select Forefront Identity Manager and click Synchronization Service.

  2. The Synchronization Service should come up

  3. At the top, click Help and then click About

  4. Click OK. Close the Synchronization Service.

Verify the FIM R2 Portal

Now we will use Internet Explorer to verify that the FIM R2 Portal comes up.

To Verify the FIM R2 Portal

  1. Click Start, select All Programs, and click Internet Explorer (64-bit).

  2. In Internet Explorer, in the address bar at the top, enter https://fim1/identitymanagement and hit enter.

  3. This will bring up the FIM Portal.

    Warning

    If it does not say Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager 2010 R2 hit CTRL+F5 to force IIS to refresh the image.

  4. On the right, click About Forefront Identity Manager.

  5. Click OK. Close the FIM Portal.
