(CHN) Create a ledger account (form) [AX 2012]

Use this form to create new ledger accounts with levels, and to copy subaccounts from one account to another.

Click General ledger > Setup > Chart of accounts > Chart of accounts. Select a chart of accounts. On the Main accounts FastTab, click New.

Click General ledger > Common > Main accounts. On the Main accounts tab, in the Action Pane, click Main account.

The following table provides descriptions for the controls in this form.

Method

Select the Create root account, Create sub account, or Copy method to create a ledger account.

Source

Select the source account.

To make this field available, you must select Create sub account in the Method field.

Ledger account

Select a ledger account number according to the account level.

Level

Select the account level for the ledger account.

Account name

Enter a name for the ledger account.

Account type

Select a main account type from the following options:

  • Profit and loss – Used to record revenue and expenses.

  • Revenue – Used to record revenue.

  • Expense – Used to record expenses.

  • Balance sheet – Used as transaction accounts to record the assets and liabilities of legal entity.

  • Asset – Used as transaction accounts to record the amounts that a legal entity owns. The accounts can have more specification, and you can more precisely structure reports about the balance of the legal entity.

  • Common – Used to generate regular reports.

  • Liability – Used as transaction accounts to record the amounts that a legal entity owes. The accounts can have more specification, and you can more precisely structure reports about the balance of the legal entity.

  • Equity – Used as transaction accounts to record the amounts that a legal entity owns or owes.

  • Total – Used to add account intervals.

  • Reporting – Used to report financial statements.

Destination

Select the destination account number to copy subaccounts to.
