Online stores (list page)

Click Retail > Common > Retail channels > Online stores.

Use this list page to view and set up online stores. Online stores are a type of retail channel that can be accessed on a Microsoft SharePoint site. After you enter the details about the online store and publish it, you can create a retail product catalog and publish it to the online store. Customers can then browse for products, add products to their shopping cart, and check out.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Create an online store.

Publish

Publish the online store to the SharePoint site. This generates the navigation hierarchy for the online store.

An online store must be published before you can publish any retail product catalogs to the online store. For more information about how to publish an online store, see Set up an online store.

View assortments

Open the Assortments list page, where you can view the list of assortments that are assigned to the online store.

Catalogs

Open the Catalogs form, where you can view the list of retail product catalogs that are assigned to the online store.

View assortment products

Open the Products list page, where you can view all the products in all the assortments that are assigned to the online store.

Listings

Open the Listings form, where you can view the list of retail products that have been published from the catalog to the online store. You can also view the status of the product listing.

Price groups

Open the Retail channel price groups form, where you can view, add, or remove the price groups that are assigned to the online store. The price groups define the trade agreements and promotions that apply to the online store.

Price list

In AX 2012 R3, this button is called Pricing.

Open the Price list form, where you can view the prices, price adjustments, and discounts of all the products that are assigned to the online store.

Channel attributes

Open the Channel attribute groups form, where you can view or add attribute groups to the online store. Channel attributes are used when the online store is published. For example, a channel attribute might include a PayPal address or an IP address for the online store.

Channel product attributes

Open the Channel product attribute group form, where you can view or add product-specific attributes to the online store. Channel product attributes are applied to the product listings when they are generated during the process of publishing the retail product catalog.

This control is not available if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 is installed.

Sales order attributes

Open the Channel attribute groups form, where you can view or add attributes that are specific to sales orders. Sales order attributes are applied to sales orders that are generated from the online store. For example, you can add a sales order attribute for a gift box. When the sales order is generated, and the gift box is selected, the information for the gift box attribute is included on the sales order.

Store product attributes

Open the Channel product attributes form, where you can maintain attributes for products that are offered in an online store. You can add, modify, or remove product attributes, attribute values, and attribute metadata for any category in a retail product hierarchy that is assigned to the store.

Use the publishing feature for catalogs to upload the new channel attribute values for products that are offered in online stores.

This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 is installed.

Map attributes

Open the Map attributes form. For each category in the online store, select the options that apply to the category or channel product attributes. For example, you can select whether attributes are required, can be used for search, and can be used as a filter in the online store.

This button is not available in AX 2012 R3. To map product attributes in AX 2012 R3, on the Set up tab, click Store product attributes. In the Channel product attributes form, on the Setup tab, click Set attribute metadata.

Modes of delivery

Open the Modes of delivery form, where you can view or select the delivery methods that are offered by the online store.

Payment methods

Open the Payment method form, where you can view or select the payment methods that are accepted by the online store, such as credit cards and PayPal.

Store locator group assignment

Open the Store locator group assignment form, where you can assign the online store to a store locator group. Use store locator groups to direct customers to locations where products are available, based on the online store where a product inquiry is made.

Distribution locations

Open the Distribution locations form, where you can set up the links between the online store in Microsoft Dynamics AX and the database that you use to publish the online store.

This control is not available if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 is installed.

Channel database

Open the Channel database form, where you can set up the links between the online store in Microsoft Dynamics AX and the database that you use to publish the online store.

This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 is installed.

Description

Channel type

The channel type for the store. A channel is the entity that represents the sales channels that are available to Retail to sell inventory.

Retail supports the following channel types:

  • Retail store

  • Online store

  • Online marketplace (not available if AX 2012 R3 is installed)

  • Call center (only available if AX 2012 R3 is installed)

Operating unit number

The operating unit number that is assigned to the online store. This number can be used to reference the online store when it is deployed to SharePoint.

If number sequences are set up, this number can be automatically assigned to the store.

This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 is installed.

Legal entity

The company that the store belongs to.

This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 is installed.

Default customer

The default customer that is assigned to the online store. This customer can be used as a template to supply the shipping address and other transaction information if a new customer, who is not yet registered as a customer in the store, is added to an online transaction. When the customer is authenticated for the online store, any values that appear by default can be modified.

Category hierarchy

The category hierarchy that is assigned to the online store. The category hierarchy identifies the navigation structure that is displayed in the online store. Any product attributes that are defined for the categories in the hierarchy are also included in the online store categories.

Note

Online stores must be assigned to a category hierarchy that is assigned to the Retail channel navigation hierarchy category hierarchy type.

Email notification profile

The profile that contains the email message templates that are used to communicate with customers at different points in the sales process for the online store.

Language

The default language that is displayed in the online store.
