You can track important conversations that you have with other workers by scheduling or tracking discussions in Microsoft Dynamics AX. Discussions can be used to gather useful information for employee goals because they provide a way to communicate and plan how an employee might evolve professionally or personally over the course of their employment.

Schedule a discussion for an individual worker

Complete the following steps to schedule one discussion with a specific worker.

  1. Click Human resources > Periodic > Performance > Discussions.

  2. Click New.

  3. Select the worker to schedule a discussion with.

  4. Select the type of discussion to conduct.

  5. Enter the date when the discussion is to occur.

  6. Complete the remaining fields, if necessary.

    Note

    If you are also using a questionnaire and you want the person to prepare for the discussion by responding to a survey, click Questionnaire, and then click Planned answer session to set up a planned answer session for the employee.

Schedule a discussion for a group of workers

  1. Click Human resources > Periodic > Performance > Discussions.

  2. Click Mass creation to open the Mass create discussions form.

  3. In the Mass create discussions form, select the type of discussion to conduct.

  4. Enter the date when the discussions are to occur.

  5. Complete the remaining fields, if necessary.

    Note

    If you want attendees to prepare for the discussion by responding to a questionnaire, select the questionnaire for the workers to complete before the discussion.

    If the questionnaire is an evaluation of another person, select the person’s name in the Evaluation of field.

  6. Click Select to open the Mass create discussions query form.

  7. In the the Mass create discussions query form, enter criteria to define the workers who you are scheduling discussions for and then click OK.

  8. In the Mass create discussions form, click OK.

Copy a discussion to Microsoft Outlook

After you schedule a discussion, you can click Copy to Microsoft Outlook in the Discussions form to schedule the discussion in the worker’s calendar.

Note

If the discussion is declined or canceled using Microsoft Dynamics AX, you must manually delete or reschedule the discussion directly in Microsoft Outlook.
