Setup /m:recoverserver cannot be run on DAG members

Applies to: Exchange Server

Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Setup can’t continue because the attempted recovery operation is not possible. If a Mailbox server is lost or otherwise fails and is unrecoverable and needs replacement, you can perform a server recovery operation by using the Setup /m:RecoverServer switch. However, this switch can be used on standalone Mailbox and Client Access servers only, and servers that are members of a database availability group.

For detailed steps to recover a server that is a member of a DAG, see Recover a database availability group member server.

For detailed steps to recover a server that is not a member of a DAG, see Recover an Exchange Server.
