VersionMajor Property

This feature will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature.

The VersionMajor property returns the portion of a component version identifier to the left of the first decimal point in the identifier.

Remarks

For SQLServer or RegisteredServer objects, the VersionMajor property returns a value exposing the major version number of the Microsoft SQL Server product installed.

For the Application object, the VersionMajor property returns a value exposing the major version number of the SQL Distributed Management Objects (SQL-DMO) object library.

Note

The GetVersionMajor property returns a failure on SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008.
