SystemDataType2 Object

This feature will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature.

The SystemDatatype2 object exposes the attributes of a Microsoft SQL Server base data type and extends the functionality of the SystemDatatype object.

Collation Property

The SystemDatatype2 object extends the functionality of the SystemDatatype object for use with features that were introduced in SQL Server 2000. It also inherits the properties and methods of the SystemDatatype object. With the SystemDatatype2 object, you can:

  • Set and retrieve column-level collation settings.

The Collation property of the SystemDatatype2 object may not be compatible with instances of SQL Server version 7.0 or earlier. For more information about using the SystemDatatype2 object in an application that also runs with an instance of SQL Server 7.0, refer to the Remarks section of the Collation property.
