VinesGroupName Property

This feature will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature.

The VinesGroupName property specifies the Banyan Vines Net-Library group name on a computer running Microsoft SQL Server.

Remarks

A group name is typically the name of a department within an organization (for example, ACCOUNTING). To set the VinesGroupName property, you must be a member of the sysadmin fixed server role.

Important

Setting the VinesGroupName property changes registry settings, and it should be used with caution.

Note

If an application calls VinesGroupName on an instance of SQL Server version 7.0, the constant, SQLDMO_E_SQL80ONLY, and the message "This property or method requires Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or later" are returned.
