FileGroup Element for NotificationClass (ADF)

Specifies the application database filegroup on which the notification table will be created.

Syntax

<NotificationClasses>
    <NotificationClass>
        ...
        <FileGroup>

Element Characteristics

Characteristic Description

Data type

string, between 0 and 128 characters in length.

Default value

The /Database/DefaultFileGroup value (if specified) or the application database's primary filegroup.

Occurrence

Optional once per NotificationClass element.

Updates

Can be added, deleted, and modified when updating the application.

Remarks

If specified, the FileGroup value must match one of the NamedFileGroup values from the application definition file (ADF) Database element.

If you update a FileGroup element, updating the application deletes and re-creates the notification class to which it corresponds. This includes dropping and re-creating the SQL Server tables and indexes used by this notification class. Any data existing in the original SQL Server tables is permanently deleted.

Example

The following example shows how to have Notification Services place the notification class table in the NSData filegroup.
