How to: Start an Instance of Notification Services Automatically (Services Manager)

You can configure an NS$instance_name service to start automatically when the computer starts. However, the service must be able to access the databases to start.

Note

This procedure does not apply to clusters. On a cluster, you must use Cluster Administrator to start the Generic Service that is configured to run the instance's Microsoft Windows service.

To start an instance of Notification Services automatically

  1. In Control Panel, open Administrative Tools, and then open Services.

  2. Double-click the NS$instanceName service.

  3. In the Startup type box, select Automatic.

The service for the instance is now configured to start whenever the computer starts. If components are enabled, this means the applications that are hosted by the instance start processing notifications when the server starts.
