How to: Recover or Move Notification Services Client Components

Client components are subscription management interfaces, non-hosted event providers, and management consoles. This topic shows the general procedure for recovering or moving the client components.

Important

All deployments of Notification Services are unique. If you have client components on remote servers, use the following procedure as a guideline for developing and testing your own procedure.

To recover a server that hosts Notification Services client components

  1. Install the SQL Server 2005 Notification Services client components. For more information, see Installing SQL Server Notification Services.

  2. Create any Microsoft Windows accounts required by the client components.

  3. Recover all client component files and applications. For example, if you are recovering a server that runs a non-hosted event provider, recover the non-hosted event provider application.

  4. Register the instance of Notification Services. Do not create the NS$instanceName Windows service.

  5. If necessary, start the client applications.
