The Subscriber Type page of the Configure Web Synchronization Wizard allows you to select the subscriber that uses virtual directory to establish the exact authentication and authorization policy for each application that requires data access. You can configure the virtual directory for either SQL Server Compact 3.5 or SQL Server subscribers. If you want to enable both types of subscribers, you must run this wizard twice and configure the virtual directory for each subscriber type.

Options

SQL Server 2005 Mobile, SQL Server Compact 3.1 and higher

Select the SQL Server 2005 Mobile, SQL Server Compact 3.1 and higher check box to create a virtual directory for SQL Server Compact 3.5 to synchronize with SQL Server over HTTP or HTTPS. Selecting this check box also means that you plan to use SQL Server Compact 3.5 subscriptions that use SQL Server Compact 3.5 Server Agent (Sqlcesa35.dll).

SQL Server

Select the SQL Server check box to create a virtual directory for SQL Server to synchronize with SQL Server over HTTPS. Selecting this checkbox means that you plan to use SQL Server subscribers that use the SQL Server Replication Listener (replisapi.dll).

SQL Server subscribers require Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). You must have a certificate installed on the server before creating a virtual directory for SQL Server subscribers.
