How to: Create a Database by Using OLE DB (Programmatically)

The OLE DB provider for SQL Server Compact 4.0. reveals the IDBDataSourceAdmin interface through which you can create and manage databases in SQL Server Compact 4.0. To create a new database, you specify the DBPROP_INIT_DATASOURCE property to specify a name for the database.

For more information, see Creating Databases with OLE DB.

Example

The following example shows how to create an encrypted case-sensitive database by using the OLE DB provider for SQL Server Compact. It also demonstrates how to specify a password. To create a standard database, remove the unnecessary DBPROP structures.

Note

For information about how to specify strong passwords, see Strong Passwords. For more information about case-sensitive databases, see Working with Collations (SQL Server Compact).
