Diagram (Data Source View Designer) (Analysis Services - Multidimensional Data)

Use the diagram pane of the Data Source View Designer to view and modify tables, columns, named queries, named calculations, and relationships included in the diagram selected in the DiagramOrganizer pane.

The diagram pane displays the diagram selected in the Diagram Organizer pane of the Data Source View Designer.

To change the area of the diagram that appears in the diagram pane, click the four-headed arrow in the lower right corner of the pane, and then drag the selection box over the thumbnail diagram until you select the area that is to appear in the diagram pane.

Diagram Context Menu Options

Right-clicking the background of the current diagram in the diagram pane opens the diagram context menu. The diagram context menu has the following commands:

  • New Named Query
    Opens the Create Named Query dialog box in which you can create a named query for the data source view in the current diagram. For more information, see Create/Edit Named Query Dialog Box (Analysis Services - Multidimensional Data).

  • Add/Remove Tables
    Opens the Add/Remove Tables dialog box in which you can add or remove tables from the data source view. For more information, see Add/Remove Tables Dialog Box (Analysis Services - Multidimensional Data).

  • New Relationship
    Opens the Create Relationship dialog box in which you can create a new relationship in the data source view. For more information, see Create/Edit Relationship Dialog Box (Analysis Services - Multidimensional Data).

  • Show Tables
    Opens the Show Tables dialog box. For more information, see Show Table Dialog Box (Analysis Services - Multidimensional Data).

    Note

    This option does not appear if <All Tables> is selected in the Diagram Organizer pane and all tables appear in the diagram pane.

  • Show All Tables
    Displays all tables included in the data source view.

    Note

    This option does not appear if <All Tables> is selected in the Diagram Organizer pane and all tables appear in the diagram pane.

  • Show Friendly Names
    Shows the friendly names for the objects in the pane.

  • Select All
    Selects all of the objects in the pane.

  • Find Table
    Opens the Find Table dialog box. For more information, see Find Table Dialog Box (Analysis Services - Multidimensional Data).

  • Arrange Tables
    Arranges the objects in the pane according to the layout specified by clicking either Switch to Diagonal Layout or Switch to Rectangular Layout.

  • Switch to Diagonal Layout
    Arranges objects in a diagonal pattern.

    Note

    This option is available only if Switch to Rectangular Layout is selected.

  • Switch to Rectangular Layout
    Arranges objects in a rectangular pattern.

    Note

    This option is available only if Switch to Diagonal Layout is selected.

  • Refresh
    Opens the Refresh Data Source View dialog box in which you can refresh the data source view with updates from the underlying data source. For more information, see Refresh Data Source View Dialog Box.

  • Zoom
    Select one of the available zoom options.

  • Properties
    Displays the properties associated with the data source view in the Properties window of Business Intelligence Development Studio.

Table Context Menu Options

Right-clicking the name of a table or named query in the diagram pane opens the table context menu. The table context menu has the following commands:

Column Context Menu Options

Right-clicking the name of a column or named calculation in a table or named query in the diagram pane opens the column context menu. The column context menu has the following commands:

  • Set Logical Primary Key
    Specifies that the selected column is a logical primary key column for the table.

    Note

    The option is available only if the selected column is not a logical primary key column.

  • New Relationship
    Opens the Create Relationship dialog box in which you can create a new relationship in the data source view for the selected table. For more information, see Create/Edit Relationship Dialog Box (Analysis Services - Multidimensional Data).

  • Delete Logical Primary Key
    Specifies that the selected column is not a logical primary key column for the table.

    Note

    The option is available only if the selected column is a logical primary key column.

  • Edit Named Calculation
    Opens the Edit Named Calculation dialog box in which you can edit the selected named calculation. For more information, see Create/Edit Named Calculation Dialog Box (Analysis Services).

    Note

    This option appears only if a named calculation is selected.

  • Delete Column
    Opens the Delete Objects dialog box in which you can delete the selected named calculation from the data source view. For more information, see Delete objects and files Dialog Box (Analysis Services).

    Note

    This option appears only if a named calculation is selected.

  • Explore Data
    Opens the Explore Data dialog box for the table that contains the selected column. For more information, see Explore Data Dialog Box (Analysis Services - Multidimensional Data).

  • Properties
    Displays the properties associated with the selected column in the Properties window of Business Intelligence Development Studio.

Relationship Context Menu Options

Right-clicking a relationship in the Diagram pane opens the relationship context menu. The relationship context menu has the following commands:
