About Migrating ASP.NET-based Commerce Server 2002 Applications to Commerce Server 2007

For the latest version of Commerce Server 2007 Help, see the Microsoft Web site.

If your Commerce Server site is based on the Commerce Server 2002 SDK sample, or if you created your own ASP.NET-based site by using Commerce Server 2002, your site migration plan must include upgrading to Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 or Visual Studio 2008, running the Commerce Server 2007 Upgrade Wizard to migrate the site data, and making API changes to your site code to account for changes that were made to Commerce Server.

Note

If your site is based on the Retail2002 Solution Site, we recommend that you redevelop your site based on the Commerce Server 2007 Starter Site.

The Commerce Server developer platform integrated into Visual Studio 2003 has been improved and is now integrated into Visual Studio 2005 or Visual Studio 2008. Visual Studio 2005 or Visual Studio 2008 uses the Microsoft .NET Framework.

In Commerce Server 2007, some API changes and component changes have been made in the Catalog and Orders namespaces. For more information, see API Changes Made to the Orders System.
