BackupRestoreBase.NoRewind Property

Applies To: SQL Server 2016 Preview

Gets or sets a Boolean property value that determines whether Microsoft SQL Server will keep the tape open after the backup or restore operation.

Namespace:   Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo
Assembly:  Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended (in Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended.dll)

Syntax

public bool NoRewind { get; set; }
public:
property bool NoRewind {
    bool get();
    void set(bool value);
}
member NoRewind : bool with get, set
Public Property NoRewind As Boolean

Property Value

Type: System.Boolean

A Boolean value that specifies whether the tape is rewound at the end of the operation or not.

If True, the tape drive is open and positioned.

If False (default), the tape is rewound

Remarks

When NoRewind property is set to True, SQL Server will keep a tape drive open and positioned, thereby preventing the overhead of rewinding and scanning a tape. This is useful in situations where a tape is repeatedly used.
