Previous versions of Internet Explorer

If you’re using Windows 7, you should upgrade to Internet Explorer 11 to continue receiving security updates and technical support. Older versions of Internet Explorer are out of support.

Starting January 12, 2016, only the current version of Internet Explorer available for a supported operating system receives technical support and security updates. Microsoft recommends that customers running older versions of Internet Explorer upgrade to the most recent version, which is Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7.

Internet Explorer 10

Released in 2012, Internet Explorer 10 carried over the advancements made in earlier versions of the Internet Explorer browser around security, standards support, and performance, as well as the extensive management and configuration support desired by IT professionals.

Internet Explorer 9

Released in 2011, Internet Explorer 9 was built with the enterprise in mind with seamless integration with Windows 7 and quick access to business-critical applications, websites, and common tasks.

Internet Explorer 8

Released in 2009, Internet Explorer 8 shipped as the default browser for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, offering advancements in security, reliability, manageability, and usability.

Internet Explorer 7

Released in 2006, Windows Internet Explorer 7 was the seventh major version of the Internet Explorer web browser; it shipped as the default browser in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.

Internet Explorer 6

Released in 2001, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 was the sixth major revision of the Internet Explorer web browser and was supported for the Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) operating system.
