The following quick-start guide provides a detailed overview of the process for deploying LTI. Use this guide to help identify the steps of the LTI deployment process for which additional information is required prior to completion. Team members can skip the steps with which they are already familiar. Table 2 is a checklist of the high-level steps in the LTI deployment process.

	High-level steps in the LTI deployment process
	Ensure that the required infrastructure exists. Unless the appropriate infrastructure exists, team members cannot use LTI to deploy computers. Ensure that the appropriate infrastructure exists to support LTI before starting deployment.
	Determine the appropriate deployment processing rules. Before using LTI to deploy computers, configure the deployment processing rules. The deployment processing rules help determine which images are deployed and the configuration settings for those operating system images. The focus of this step is the appropriate configuration of the Customsettings.ini file.
	Prepare the deployment environment. BDD 2007 includes the deployment scripts, deployment configuration files, computer imaging wizards, and other files necessary for using LTI to successfully deploy operating systems. As a part of this step, install the Microsoft Windows® User State Migration Tool (USMT) version 3.0. Also, configure Deployment Workbench creating the deployment point, operating system images, applications, updates, and other deployment options.
	Configure the appropriate resource access. The accounts that the deployment scripts and other components use in LTI require access to various resources. Before using LTI to deploy operating systems, ensure that these accounts have the appropriate permissions to the required resources.
	Prepare the Windows DS server. Use Microsoft Windows Deployment Services (Windows DS) to start the Microsoft Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE). Configure Windows DS accordingly, and create the Windows PE images that Windows DS initiates. Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows XP installation can also be initiated by directly downloading Windows Imaging Format (WIM) image formats of these operating systems.
	Run the Windows Deployment Wizard. The final step in the LTI deployment process is to run the Windows Deployment Wizard. The wizard prompts for any information not already configured in Deployment Workbench or in CustomSettings.ini.
	Update the deployment points. Modify the deployment configuration after initially configuring the deployment environment. Then, update the deployment points.
