Installing SQL Server 2008 R2

The SQL Server Installation Wizard is Windows Installer-based. It provides a single feature tree to install all SQL Server components:

  • SQL Server Database Engine

  • Analysis Services

  • Reporting Services

  • Integration Services

  • Replication

  • Management tools

  • Documentation

Note SQL Server is available in 32-bit and 64-bit editions. The 64-bit and 32-bit editions of SQL Server are installed either through the Installation Wizard, or at a command prompt. By default, sample databases and sample code are not installed as part of SQL Server Setup. To install sample databases and sample code for non-Express editions of SQL Server, see the CodePlex Web site.
