The Windows Vista Help topic "How can I use my Plug and Play device in a Remote Desktop session" states that, while in a Remote Desktop session, you can redirect devices running Windows Embedded for Point of Service by using Microsoft POS for .NET 1.1.

Attempts to redirect devices to computers running Windows Vista in this way will fail. However, you can redirect devices running Windows Embedded for Point of Service to computers running the Microsoft Windows Server® 2008 operating system using this method. For more information about Microsoft POS for .NET 1.1, see https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=66169.
