Remote Desktop Services License Management and Your Privacy

Applies To: Windows Server 2008 R2

Microsoft asks you to activate your Remote Desktop license server and Remote Desktop Services client access licenses (RDS CALs) to verify that you are a licensed user and to provide customized benefits and services. When you provide complete and accurate information, Microsoft customer service representatives can successfully re-create the licensing information on your Remote Desktop license server if technical problems occur. This prevents the possible loss of valuable licensing information.

You do not need to provide all the requested information. However, some fields—such as name, company name, and country/region—are required, and if you do not provide complete information, the Microsoft Clearinghouse might not be able to activate your Remote Desktop license server and RDS CALs.
