CopyFolder Actions in the Public Folder Hierarchy Do Not Trigger CopiedEvent Event Types

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 will reach end of support on April 11, 2017. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

This topic provides information about how to troubleshoot an issue in which a CopiedEvent event type is not triggered by a CopyFolder operation in a public folder hierarchy in Exchange Server 2007.

Assume that you use the event notification subsystem of Exchange Web Services to subscribe to CopiedEvent event types in a public folder hierarchy. In this scenario, you expect that a CopiedEvent event type is triggered when a CopyFolder operation occurs. However, in an Exchange Server 2007 environment, a CopiedEvent event type is not triggered. This issue occurs in both push notifications and pull notifications.

To work around this issue, use the CopyItem operation to trigger the CopiedEvent event type. Also, configure the CreatedEvent event type to monitor all folder copy actions in the public folder hierarchy to make sure that you do not miss any operations that occur.

For more information about the CopyItem element, see CopyItem Operation on the Exchange Server Developer Center Web site.
