Change the Discovery Scope of a Terminal Services License Server

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

When you install the TS Licensing role service by using Server Manager, you need to specify a discovery scope, which determines how the Terminal Services license server will be automatically discoverable by terminal servers.

You can use Review Configuration in the TS Licensing Manager tool to change the discovery scope of the license server after the TS Licensing role service has been installed on the computer.

Note

If the license server is a member of a workgroup, and then you join the license server to an Active Directory domain, the discovery scope for the license server will be automatically changed from Workgroup to Domain.

For more information about discovery scopes, see Terminal Services License Server Discovery.

Use the following procedure to change the discovery scope of a license server by using TS Licensing Manager.

Membership in the Enterprise Admins group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Review details about using the appropriate accounts and group memberships at Local and Domain Default Groups (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83477).
