List the AD LDS Instances Installed on a Computer

You can use the Dsbutil general Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) management tool to list all the AD LDS instances that are installed on your computer.

Membership in Administrators, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Review details about using the appropriate accounts and group memberships at Local and Domain Default Groups (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83477).

To list the AD LDS instances installed on a computer

  1. Open a Command Prompt.

  2. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    dsdbutil

  3. At the dsdbutil: prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    list instances

  4. To exit the Dsdbutil administration tool, at the dsdbutil: prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    quit

The information about the AD LDS instances that this procedure lists includes the following: AD LDS instance name, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) port, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) port, installation directory, database file, log file directory, and service state.
