A non-SMTP gateway connection failure occurred on connector %1. The drop directory quota limit of %2(MB) has been exceeded.

Explanation

This Error event indicates that the Drop directory that is used by a Foreign connector has exceeded its maximum allowed size.

The maximum size of the Drop directory is specified by using the DropDirectoryQuota parameter on the Set-ForeignConnector cmdlet. By default, the value of the DropDirectoryQuota parameter is unlimited.

Each Foreign connector that is configured on a Hub Transport server uses a specified Drop directory to send messages to a local messaging server that is called a foreign gateway server. A foreign gateway server does not use SMTP as its primary transport mechanism. All outbound messages that are sent to address spaces that are defined by a Foreign connector are put in the specified Drop directory.

User Action

To resolve this error, do one of the following:

  • Remove files from the specified Drop directory until the size of all files in the Drop directory is less than the value that is specified by the DropDirectoryQuota parameter.
  • Increase the value of the DropDirectoryQuota parameter on the Set-ForeignConnector cmdlet. The valid input range is 1 B to 2 GB. You can also remove the maximum allowed size on the specified Drop directory by setting a value of unlimited.
