Include System Center Advisor in a Custom Install Image

You can use Windows Deployment Services to create custom install images that contain the on-premise software for System Center Advisor. For information on how to use Windows Deployment Services, click here.

The following sections provide the order and manner in which to create a custom install image for Advisor.

To create an image with an Advisor agent

  1. Install the agent by following the instructions in Install the Gateway and Agents from the Setup Wizard.

  2. Stop the System Center Management Service (in the Services console).

  3. In the Registry Editor, locate and delete the value of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\SystemCenterAdvisor\AgentID registry key.

  4. Create the install image by using the instructions at Creating Custom Install Images (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=219595).

To create an image with an Advisor gateway

  1. Install the gateway from the command line by using the directions in Install the Gateway and Agent from the Command Line. When you run the install, use the DO_NOT_REGISTER parameter to suppress gateway registration.

  2. Create the install image by using the instructions in Creating Custom Install Images (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=219595).

  3. After you deploy the custom install image, register the gateway by using the instructions in Register a gateway manually. Do this for each install image.
