System Center Reporting Manager 2006 Administrator Guide

Microsoft System Center Reporting Manager (SCRM) 2006 is a platform for analysis of management data so that IT administrators and managers can query and report IT operations. The foundation of SCRM 2006 is a Microsoft SQL Server-based data warehouse that integrates management data from Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005, asset information from Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003, and business context data. Using information from these sources, you can create your own query and reporting scenarios. SCRM 2006 also includes many predefined reports that require no customization, so you can view and use report information immediately after SCRM 2006 setup and configuration.

Before using SCRM 2006, you should have the following proficiencies:

  • A working knowledge of MOM 2005 and SMS 2003.

  • Administrative knowledge of SQL Server 2005. In addition to modifying tables and views, you must be able to plan, manage, and troubleshoot a SQL Server 2005 deployment.

The following sections of this guide provide overviews of SCRM 2006 architecture and deployment processes and best-practice guidance for day-to-day administrative tasks to help you use the product:
