How to Cancel a Job

Applies To: Virtual Machine Manager 2008, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 SP1

You can cancel a running job in Jobs view or from the Jobs window in any view.

Some jobs cannot be canceled. These include Add Hosts and system jobs, such as Refresh Virtual Machine. Other jobs cannot be canceled beyond a certain point. For some jobs, such as Migrate Virtual Machine, canceling is allowed but might take a long time.

To cancel a job in Jobs view

  1. In Jobs view, select the job you want to cancel.

    To quickly locate long-running jobs, use one of the following methods:

    • Filter the jobs by Running status. In the navigation pane, click Filters, click Status, and then select the Running check box.

    • Sort the jobs by Running status. In the results pane, click the Status column header.

  2. In the Actions pane, under Job, click Cancel.

To cancel a job in the Jobs window

  1. On the toolbar, click Jobs.

  2. In the Jobs window, select the job, and then click Cancel Job.
