Configuring FTP User Isolation
Applies To: Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista
In FTP 7.0, you can isolate users to the root directory or a user name directory. You can also isolate them based on Active Directory settings.
Isolating users to a virtual directory when using user name directory isolation is new in FTP 7.0. When restricting a user to a user name directory, you no longer need to create a physical directory for each account.
Note
Configuring the FTP server to isolate users to a user name directory using virtual directories disables the global virtual directory feature. To share a folder among multiple FTP users, you must create a virtual directory for each user.
This task includes the following procedures:
Configure the Starting Directory for Users
Configure Directory Restrictions to Isolate Users in Physical Directories
Configure Directory Restrictions to Isolate Users in Virtual Directories
