Modifies an IPv4 vendor class or user class on the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server service with the specified parameters.

Detailed Description

The Set-DhcpServerv4Class cmdlet modifies an IPv4 vendor class or user class on the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server service with the specified parameters.

The Description or Data parameter must be specified.

Parameters

-AsJob

-CimSession<CimSession[]>

Runs the cmdlet in a remote session or on a remote computer. Enter a computer name or a session object, such as the output of a New-CimSession or Get-CimSession cmdlet. The default is the current session on the local computer.

-ComputerName<String>

Specifies the DNS name, or IPv4 or IPv6 address, of the target computer running the DHCP server service.

-Data<String>

Specifies the data for the specified vendor or user class. This parameter value is expected in the request from the client belonging to the specified vendor or user class.

-Description<String>

Specifies the description string to set on the vendor or user class.

-Name<String>

Specifies the name of the user or vendor class being modified.

-PassThru

Returns an object representing the item with which you are working. By default, this cmdlet does not generate any output.

-ThrottleLimit<Int32>

Specifies the maximum number of concurrent operations that can be established to run the cmdlet. If this parameter is omitted or a value of 0 is entered, then Windows PowerShell® calculates an optimum throttle limit for the cmdlet based on the number of CIM cmdlets that are running on the computer. The throttle limit applies only to the current cmdlet, not to the session or to the computer.

-Type<String>

Specifies the type of the class being modified. The acceptable values for this parameter are: Vendor or User.

-Confirm

Prompts you for confirmation before running the cmdlet.

-WhatIf

Shows what would happen if the cmdlet runs. The cmdlet is not run.

<CommonParameters>

• Microsoft.Management.Infrastructure.CimInstance#root/Microsoft/Windows/DHCP/DhcpServerv4Class

  The Microsoft.Management.Infrastructure.CimInstance object is a wrapper class that displays Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) objects. The path after the pound sign (#) provides the namespace and class name for the underlying WMI object.

This example sets the data for a DHCPv4 user class for lab computers to LabComputers.

EXAMPLE 2

This example sets the data for the DHCPv4 vendor class for Microsoft Unified Communication clients on the DHCP server service to MS-UC-Client.
