Resolves a namespace prefix in the current element's scope.

Parameters
- prefix
- String
The prefix whose namespace Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) you want to resolve. To match the default namespace, pass an empty string.
Returns
The namespace URI to which the prefix maps or null
if no matching prefix is found.
Remarks
Note
The XmlValidatingReader class is obsolete in .NET Framework 2.0. You can create a validating XmlReader instance by using the XmlReaderSettings class and the Create method. For more information, see the Remarks section of the XmlReader reference page.
In the following XML string, if the reader is positioned on the href
attribute, the prefix a
is resolved by calling reader.LookupNamespace("a", true)
. The returned string is urn:456
.

<item>
