Add Rule Dialog Box

When you create a new process matching criterion or edit an existing one, you can add a new rule by clicking Add on the Rules tab of the process matching criterion properties page.
Common tasks in the Add Rule dialog box

Include a file or command line:

On the Files or Command Lines tab, click a blank line in Included files or command lines, and then type the file name or regular expression you want to match. For more information about file and command-line matching, see Create a Process Matching Criterion Using Path Matching. |

Choose an application or service to include from a list |
On the Files or Command Lines tab, click to choose Registered Service, Running Process, Application, or IIS App-Pool from the list in the drop-down box, and then click Select. Click the name of the matched process you want to include, and then click OK.

Exclude a file or command line:

On the Files or Command Lines tab, click to select Excluded files or command lines. Next, click a blank line in Excluded files or command lines, and then type the file name or regular expression you want to match. For more information about file and command-line matching, see Create a Process Matching Criterion Using Path Matching. Note Excluding a file or command line in a process matching criterion will only exclude it from management by resource allocations that depend on the process matching criterion. To exclude a file or command line from all management by Windows System Resource Manager, see Work with the User-Defined Exclusion List.

Choose an application or service to exclude from a list |
On the Files or Command Lines tab, click to select Excluded files or command lines. Next, click to choose Registered Service, Running Process, Application, or IIS App-Pool from the list in the drop-down box, and then click Select. Click the name of the matched process you want to exclude, and then click OK. Note You cannot select multiple processes. You must complete this procedure once for each process you want to exclude.

Include a user or group |
On the Users or Groups tab, in Included users and groups, click Add. Note You might be prompted to enter a user name and password with permission to look up users or groups in your domain.
In the Select Users or Groups dialog box, choose users or groups to include. Note Windows System Resource Manager validates users and groups added from the Add Rule dialog box. However, users and groups that are part of an imported process matching criterion are not validated.

Remove a rule |
Click the name of the rule you want to remove, and then click Remove. |
