Remove Users from Telephony Lines or Phones

You can perform this procedure to remove a user's access to a telephony line or phone. After you perform this procedure, telephony client programs run by the user cannot use the line or phone on the telephony server.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Review details about using the appropriate accounts and group memberships at Local and Domain Default Groups (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83477).

To remove a telephony user from a line or phone

  1. Open the Telephony Snap-in.

  2. In the console tree, click the service provider you want to manage. To find the service provider, double-click Telephony, double-click the server you want to manage, and then click the service provider for the line you want to assign.

  3. In the details pane, under Line Name or Phone Name, click the line or phone.

  4. On the Action menu, click Edit Users.

  5. In the Edit Users dialog box, under Assigned Users, select a user, and then click Remove.

Additional considerations
  • To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer, or you must be designated as a telephony administrator. For more information, see Designate Telephony Administrators.
