About multiple user stores

In many systems, you will have content coming from multiple sources, fed by several different indexing connectors. When the indexed content requires item level security, you must create multiple FSA user stores. Any content originating in Microsoft sources (Outlook, Word documents, SharePoint databases, etc.) uses claims authentication for the user’s claims token and item level security. Another common user store is a Lotus Notes user store, which caches credentials for Lotus Notes users.

Multiple user stores generally require principal aliasing. If a Lotus Notes database is publically available to all Lotus Notes users (that is to say, read access for the Lotus Notes Default user but not for the Lotus Notes Anonymous user) you would still have to map Windows aliases to Lotus Notes users to make the content searchable if you use the FAST Search Lotus Notes 커넥터.
