Production - Release (class form)

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Click Production control > Periodic > Production orders > Release.

Use this form to release production orders that are ready for the shop floor. The release stage indicates that the order has left the front office, where estimating and scheduling are completed. The order is then released to the shop floor.

When you release a production order, the status changes to Released. You can print the following production papers:

  • Job cards

  • Route jobs

  • Route cards

To start production immediately, you can specify that the production order be released automatically after scheduling. No job card, route job, or route card is printed. To print production papers anyway, you can set the production status to a previous status. For information about resetting the production status, see Production - Reset status (class form).

Tip

You can change routes and bills of materials (BOMs) at any time up to and including the Release and Start statuses. However, if the changes affect job cost estimation or scheduling, you might have to run one or more of the following processes again before you continue:

  • Estimation

  • Operations scheduling

  • Job scheduling

When you use the Manufacturing execution features to register feedback on production orders, operations and jobs that are connected to released production orders become visible in the Job registration form.
