Generate periods (class form)

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Click Organization administration > Common > Calendars > Period types. On the menu bar of the Period types form, click Generate periods.

Use this form to generate periods for a new period type, or to create a new period interval for an existing period code.

Not all fields are available with every period type.

Field

Description

Update worker periods

Select this check box to update periods automatically for all workers attached to this period.

Specify start date of the period

Specify the start date of the new period.

Update timesheet periods

Select this check box to update the timesheet periods that are attached to the selected period type.

End date

Specify the end date of the period that you are creating.

Note

The End date field is available only for periods with a period frequency of Unlimited selected on the Periods form.

Length of period

Enter the number of period frequency units that you want to create. For example, if you have selected the period frequency Week and want to create one year of periods, enter 52.

Unit

View the period frequency that is selected in the Period types form.

Billable hours

Optional: Enter the number of chargeable hours that you expect for the period. This number will be compared with how many hours are actually charged. The difference can be viewed in the Billable rate reports.

Efficiency hours

Optional: Enter the number of productive hours that you expect for the period. This number will be compared with how many hours are entered as productive instead of as non-productive. The difference can be viewed in the Efficiency rate reports.
