Logging database changes (form)

Click System administration > Setup > Database > Database log setup. Click New.

Use this wizard to start logging changes to specified tables and fields.

Database logging, although it can be valuable from a business perspective, can be expensive as measured by resource use and management. For more information about recommended practices when logging, see Configure and manage database logging.

Logging database changes

This page introduces you to the wizard. Click Next to move to the next page.

Tables and fields

Select the tables or fields that you want to log changes to, then click Next.

By default, Administrator and System tables are excluded from the list.

Types of change

Select the types of change to the table (insert, update, delete, or rename key) that you want to record in the log. Rename key changes occur when a table's foreign or primary key has been changed.

Note

For individual fields, only updates can be logged.

Finish

The Finish page lists the table and field changes that will be logged. Click Finish to start logging.
